제목 EMC 공정에서의 자기장과 유동장 분석을 통한 자유표면 형상 계산
초록 The periodic scratches called oscillation marks are produced at the surface of
solidified metal slab in continuous casting process. The oscillation marks due to moldreciprocation affect much the surface quality because they can become the sites of crackformation and impurity penetration. EMC (ElectroMagnetic Casting) process is theadvanced casting process that improve the surface quality by changing the free surfaceshape of molten metal by applying magnetic field around the continuous casting mold.Alternating magnetic field produced by an alternating electric current generates magneticpressure at slab surface and induces flow within molten metal. Meniscus shape ofmolten metal is formed through equilibrium of magnetic pressure, dynamic pressure, andstatic pressure. In this work, we compute the meniscus shape in EMC process byimproving our earlier version and show the results. We determine magnetic fielddistribution and the magnetic pressure at the free surface by using the boundaryintegral equation method (BIEM). In flow field analysis, we use thestreamfunction-vorticity formulation. Orthogonal grid system, finite difference methodand alternating direction implicit (ADI) method are employed for flow field computation.Meniscus shape is determined through normal stress balance at free surface.
