In this study, we performed size controlled synthesis of silver nanoparticles through the reduction of intermediates of Ag-S inorganic/organic hybrid polymers having supramolecular structures. The Ag-SR polymers were simply prepared by mixing alkanethiols with the solution of silver salts. When Ag-S8, Ag-S12, and Ag-S18 were irradiated by the electron beam in the transmission electron microscopy (TEM), silver nanoparticles with diameters of 5.9 nm, 3.5 nm, and 2.9 nm were obtained. With the use of different substituent (R=(CH2)COOH), size controlled silver nanoparticles also can be prepared in a single step. In addition, we found that the size of the silver nanoparticles can be controlled by adjusting the accelerating voltage of the electron beam in the TEM. The morphology and chemical composition of the silver nanoparticles were characterized by TEM, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The detail results will be given in the meeting. |
