We synthesized rod-coil mikto-arm star-block copolymers (A2B) composed of regioregular poly(3-dodecylthiophene) (P3DDT) and poly(2-vinylpiridine) (P2VP) via azide-alkyne click reaction and anionic coupling reaction. First, the linking compound (LC) of 1, 3-diazido-2-propanol was synthesized from the reaction between 1, 3-dibromo-2-propanol and NaN3. Then, the azide groups were reacted with the alkynyl end group in P3DDT by click reaction. Due to using 2 eq P3DDT, the resulting structure was P3DDT-(LC)-P3DDT. Since this product still had hydroxyl group in the LC, it can be reacted with trans-Cinnamic acids by the esterification. When the excess amount of the living P2VP anions was used, the double bond in trans-Cinnamic acid was completely reacted with P2VP anions, without leaving any P3DDT-(LC)-P3DDT. We characterized molecular structures by NMR, and investigated the photoluminescence of synthesized star-block copolymers with various coil lengths and solvents. |
