Surface modification of TAC film for preparation of a polarizer by coating process |

Dichroic thin films made from lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals (LCLCs) mixture have been considered as a polarizer for LC cells although they need some improvements in properties. Many studies on polarizer preparation using LCLCs have been focused on the glass substrate not plastic substrates. However polarizer fabrication on the plastic substrate is very important to enlarge its application to upcoming flexible displays. In order to make thin polarizer films on the triacetyl cellulose (TAC) substrate by shear coating, we performed TAC surface treatment and analyzed the results to enhance the optical properties of resulting polarizer films. |
