It is well known that block copolymer (BCP) forms a supramolecule with low molecular weight molecules as well as with macromolecules, which has applications in various fields. We introduce a new system in this area which gives useful information for further research. In the present system, high melting temperature amphiphile forms a supramolecule via strong hydrogen bonding between hydroxyl group of the small molecule and nitrogen of vinyl pyridine in PS-b-P2VP block copolymer which was confirmed by FTIR. The increase in TODT by adding stoichiometric amounts of amphiphile to BCP was characterized by DLS and SAXS and concluded that the effect is comparable with the supramolecules formed through ionic bonding or complex formation through quarternisation and hydrogen bond. The annealing effect on formation of supramolecule will be discussed by FTIR, DLS and SAXS experiments. |
