Polyisocyanate is one of the most studied polymer for helicity induction, which has given several fascinating concepts, such as “Sergeant and Soldier Principle”, “Majority Rule”, and "Cooperative Effect”. Herein, we have synthesized optically active poly(n-hexyl isocyanate) (PHIC) containing chiral moieties at both ends using various synthetic route. By correlating the MW and interplay of helical conformations in PHICs, we have proposed “Double Covalent Chiral Domino" (DCCD) effect. When chiral initiator and chiral terminator were used, the chirality of the initiator plays a decisive role in determining the overall helicity, whereas the chirality of the terminator plays a supporting role, which was named as the “Governing Initiation-Supporting Termination” (GIST) effect. The polymers were characterized by H1-NMR, SEC-LS and CD spectroscopy. |
