The electronic structure of tropone has special attention in the material science. Tropone moiety have reversible change of comformational structure between aromatic and non-aromatic by external proton, and it can directly affect the electronic delocalization of the polymer. Moreover, Tropone can be applied as sensory materials, based on aromaticity switching by protonation. Herein, we synthesized tropone-containing conjugated polymers that show red-shift in UV-vis spectroscopy as increasing the ratio of insoluble solvent. Interestingly, acid sensing process of thiazole bridged polymer exhibits blue-shift because of the breaking the hydrogen bond between proton of tropone and nitrogen of thiazole by trifluoro-acetic acid(TFA). In this study, we have designed and synthesized various types of tropone-containing monomers and polymers, and investigated their optical properties by UV-vis spectrometry (UV). |
