Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have has a number of attractive features; it is simple to make using conventional roll-printing techniques, is semi-flexible and semi-transparent which offers a variety of uses not applicable to glass-based systems, and most of the materials used are low-cost. In this study, a mixture composed of an ionic liquid, a metal complex and a p-dopant was applied as hole transporting material in DSSCs. A DSSC with lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulphonyl)imide (LiTFSI) as a dopant showed a photovoltaic performance of 19.33 mA/cm2 for the short-circuit current (Jsc), 0.608 V for the open-circuit voltage (Voc), and 62.94% for the fill factor (FF), which led to a PCE of 7.40%, while the PCE of a DSSC with zinc(II) bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide was decreased to 5.18 % (Jsc = 13.41 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.594 V, and FF = 65.00%). |
