제목 Synthesis of well-defined meta-activated poly(phenylene oxide) having sulfonyl pendant group via chain-growth polycondensation.
초록 Precise control of molecular weight and polydispersity of polymers is an important issue in polymer synthesis. We prepared well-defined poly(phenylene oxide) from meta-activated AB' type monomer which has reactive A and latent B' functional group. The monomer does not react itself at certain reaction condition. However, in the presence of reactive mono-functional B type initiator, the monomer reacts with the initiator and the B' functional group is changed into reactive B functional group. With this method we were able to grow polymers only at the reactive end groups of the polymer chains so that controlled molecular weight and narrow polydispersity were achieved. The meta-substituted sulfonyl group activates aromatic substitution reaction through inductive effect.
