The organic light-emitting diodes tailored with phosphorescent Ir(III) complexes have received intense interest, because the internal quantum efficiency can approach 100% theoretically. However, this efficiency is limited by the aggregation of Ir(III) complexes through unfavorable concentration quenching. In order to solve this problem, dendritic structures have been investigated most successfully. Our group previously reported the highly phosphorescent Ir(III) complex with the triphenylsilyl group, whose high efficiency is associated with beneficial dendritic architecture thereof. We presume that the more dendritic moiety on the ligand we embed, the more ‘dendrimer effect’ we can procure. Hence, additional dendritic arylsilane groups have been introduced by Suzuki-Miyaura reaction. Then, the μ-chloride-bridged dimer was subsequently chelated, affording the homoleptic Ir(III) complex. This Ir(III) complex shows excellent solubility and exhibits orange phosphorescence. |
