Simple synthesis and purification of lactide with high purity |

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) among the biodegradable polymers has attracted growing interests as one of the most promising and competitive materials because of its perfect combination of biocompatibility and biodegradability as well as its desirable mechanical properties. Lactide has conventionally been produced by two step process, condensation followed by depolymerization of prepolymer. So we could develop one step process of the lactide from aqueous lactic acid using acid catalyst. And we could obtain the lactide with high purity by simple purification step up to > 99%. |
