Characteristics of acrylic PSA/graphene oxide composite compatibilized by chemical bonding |

Although graphene has attracted wide attention because of its high electrical conductivity, high thermal conductivity, and superior mechanical properties, graphene usually shows some problem in dispersion in polymeric matrix to form a composite. The introduction of double bonds to graphene oxide was tried to solve the dispersion problem by modifying graphene oxide using isophorone diisocyanate and p-phenylene diamine. Graphene oxide was modified with diisocyanates based on the reaction of diisocyanates with carboxyl and hydroxyl groups of graphene oxide. A radical polymerization with acrylic monomers was possible on the surface of modified graphene oxide to form acrylic PSA/graphene oxide composite with improved dispersion of graphene oxide. The nucleophilic substitution reaction of epoxide groups of GO with amine groups of p-phenylene diamine PPD was also studied to form chemical bonds on graphene oxide resulting in the improved dispersion of graphene oxide in polymer matrix. |
