제목 Electron recombination in dye-sensitized solar cells employing solid PEO-based polymer electrolyte
초록 We characterize recombination reaction from TiO2 to electrolyte in solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) based on PEO (poly(ethylene oxide)) in comparison with liquid electrolyte (LE) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) using different cations such as lithium (Li+) and 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium (MPI+). In the SPE, difference of open circuit voltage between two cations is small (~ 0.05V), but that is large in the LE (~ 0.15V) and SPE has higher values in recombination resistance than LE. These results suggest that ethylene glycol (EG) chains in PEO may be adsorbed on TiO2 surface and reduce the recombination. EG adsorbed photoanode has smaller binding energy of titanium lattice than bare one. Through the above all these results, we conclude that SPE based on PEO can make higher power conversion efficiency than LE in DSCs (3.25% in LE, 3.90%, in SPE).
