The UV transparency and stability of encapsulating material is important issue, because they are closely related to the performance of UV LED devices. An organic groups can be degraded by UV rays and heat, thereby showing transmittance decreases and surface cracks. In this study, the methyl hybrimer was fabricated by a thermal hydrosilylation reaction of a methyl hydride oligosiloxane resin and vinyl cross-linker under a platinum (Pt) catalyst. The oligosiloxane resin was synthesized by hydrolytic sol-gel condensation of methyldiethoxysilane and dimethyldiethoxysilane. The resin has high degree of condensation and large hydride functional groups, to increase cross-linking. The methyl hybrimer shows high transparency (82.2 % at 300 nm) and has superior stability under UVB (280 ~ 320 nm) test for 1000 hours. Also, the methyl hybrimer showed high thermal decomposition temperature (> 490 ℃) and long-term stability at 200 ℃. |
