The purpose of the present paper is to figure out the suppression of carbon deposition by Zr and Mg over Ni/γ-Al₂O₃ catalyst in steam-CO₂ reforming of methane (CSCRM) to produce synthetic gas (H₂/CO = 2) for gas to liquid (GTL). It was conducted at 900 °C and 20 bar with feed ratio of CH₄ : CO₂ : H₂O = 1 : 0.8 : 1.3 and GHSV = 2500 h-1. The modified catalysts were analysed by BET, XRD, TPR, TPD, TGA and FE-SEM. Zr and Mg addition to Ni/γ-Al₂O₃ catalysts improved the resistance to carbon deposition as well as improve the catalytic activities. The results indicate that the addition of Zr and Mg could decrease particle size of Ni and build strong metal support interaction (SMSI) with γ-Al₂O₃ support. Because of the strengthened basicity on Mg synthesized catalyst, Ni(12)-Zr(5)-Mg(5)/γ-Al₂O₃ showed better coke resistance by gasification with CO₂. |
