Polyhedral oligmeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) have been widely regarded as one of the promising and rapidly emerging nanoparticles in the field of organic-inorganic nanocomposite materials. The various methodologies for preparing hybrid copolymers or blends containing POSS show property enhancements via POSS such as the reduced heat evolution and flammability, altered mechanical, improved thermal property, and reduced viscosity. In this study, the monomer with two POSS groups was synthesized by the functionalized POSS and malonyl dichloride. The obtained monomer containing two POSS groups was polymerized with 1,6-dibromohexane in the presence of sodium hydride to produce new organic-inorganic hybrid polymers with two POSS groups in the side chain. The composition, structure, and morphology of the hybrid polymers were studied by SEM, TGA, DSC, NMR, and FT-IR. |
