Structure-Property Relationships of Copolymers for Organic Solar Cells |

Our group designed two materials having an effect on extended conjugations for organic solar cells. The polymer donor units using BDT and DTBDAT have planar backbone resulting in intermolecular charge transport properties. Moreover donor units show low HOMO energy levels and large band gaps. We used TCNT moiety as an electron acceptor unit that helps to increase the intermolecular interactions. Therefore we synthesized and characterized P(BDT-TCNT) and P(DTBDAT-TCNT). Organic solar cells performance of P(BDT-TCNT) indicated a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.10% and an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 50.77 V, a short-circuit current density (JSC) of 59.06 mA/cm2, and a fill factor (FF) of 50.58. And device performance using P(DTBDAT-TCNT) indicated a PCE of 5.83%, a VOC of 0.77 V, a JSC of 12.2 mA/cm2, and a FF of 50.62. |
