We report the fabrication of a super-flexible functionalized-graphene film by initially covalent grafting of polycaprolactone (PCL) chains onto the graphene surface, followed by a vacuum filtration-induced directional flow assembly of the dispersed functionalized-graphene sheets in a mixture of organic solvents. Elemental analysis, thermogravimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy demonstrate the successful grafting of the PCL chains onto graphene surface. The obtained functionalized-graphene film exhibits an extraordinary-high flexibility with a tensile strain at break of around 6% when deformation, which is the highest value ever reported for graphene oxide and graphene thin films. The toughness of the functionalized-graphene film is 5-folds that of a non-modified-graphene film. |
