Recently, tightening of environmental regulations and increasing health concerns have motivated research activities about storage of alternative fuel. Natural gas which mainly consist of methane is considered as one of good alternative fuel, because of abundance of resources and lower carbon emissions. In this work, we prepared activated carbon (AC) for methane storage derived from chitosan which second most abundant biomass using chemical activation. The structure information of the activated carbons was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and pore size distributions were measured at 77K and calculated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and non-local density functional theory (NLDFT). The methane storage capacity was investigated by BEL-HP at 273 K, 35 bar. |
