The formation and growth of biofilms on a solid surface are known to occur during in-situ bioremediation of contaminated soil, which inhibits the biodegradation of contaminants. In this study, we tried to explain the adhesion of P. putida NCIB 9816-4 (initial biofilm formation) with xDLVO theory. In most studies, solid materials for cell adhesion are generally several hundred micron-sized particles. Then, thesurface defects, and the possibility of misunderstanding the cell sedimentation as the cell adhesion were inevitable. Hence the binding of nano-sized polymeric particles to the cell surface was suggested as a tool for understanding the cell adhesion. |
