The influence of iron particle size on the catalytic performance during Fischer-Tropsch synthesis was investigated under the following reaction conditions; T = 300 oC, P = 1.0 MPa and space velocity = 2000 L/Kgcat/h. The size-controlled iron oxide particles were previously prepared by forming iron-oxy oleate precursor synthesized from iron (III) nitrate and oleic acid with changing synthesis temperature. The prepared iron oxide in the size of 2.0 - 12.5 nm was subsequently impregnated on ZSM-5 (Si/Al = 25, surface area = 425 m2/g). With the increase of iron particle size, CO conversion and C2-C4 selectivity increased and vice versa in C5+ selectivity. |
