초록 | The control of water activity has fundamental implications for biocatalyst kinetics and operational stability, and ultimately for the rational optimization of biocatalystperformance and productivity in industrial reactors.In this work, we have developed thecomputer-aided water activity control system using both humidified air anddried air forlipase-catalyzed esterifications in solvent-free media. Water activity control was achievedby manipulating the flow rate and type of air sparged into the enzyme reactor. A digitalcomputer as a feedback controller was implemented for this purpose. The simplicity ofthis system renders it suitable for use over a wide range of water activities, andfacilitates easy scale-up. |
