Extracellular Complexities Remodeling for Enhancing Drug Delivery Efficiency |

ECM (Extracellular matrix) is a barrier for efficient delivery of nanoparticles and drugs and disturbs the even biodistribution of nanoparticles in tumor site. This research suggests the two strategies for overcoming the limitations which is discussed above. First, the collagenase enzyme which degrades the collagen and hyaluronidase enzyme which degrades hyaluronan is treated to tumor site directly. The majority of extracellular matrix are consisted of collagen and hyaluronan is a barrier for delivery of nanoparticles in tumor site same as collagen. Second, HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is treated to tumor for enhancing delivery of nanoparticles in tumor site. The NIRF intensity of nanoparticles in tumor site in each enzymes-treated group and HIFU-treated group is significantly stronger than that of control group. |
