High mechanical strength and electrical properties are simultaneously attained by adding natural adhesive, polydopamine (PDA). Two-step defect enginnering addresses the intrinsic limitation of graphene fibers caused by folding and wrinkling of graphene layers during the wet-spinning process (surface polymerization and additional solution infiltration of PDA). By atomic force microscopy pull-off test, interfacial adhesion between graphene oxide sheets is clearly analyzed. Subsequently, PDA could be changed into an N-doped graphitic layer by a mild thermal treatment without shrinking electrical conductivity. This bioinspired graphene fibers have good promise for wide range of applications such as flexible electronics, multifunctional textiles and wearable devices. |
