Characterization of Digital Memory Behaviors of Donor-Acceptor Type π-Conjugated Polymer Systems |

The π-conjugated donor-acceptor type polymers Fl-TPA, Fl-TPA-TCNE and Fl-TPA-TCNQ, which are composed of fluorine (Fl), triphenylamine (TPA), dimethylphenylamine, alkyne, alkyne-tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and alkyne-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) adduct, were synthesized. These polymers thermally stable up to 291~409 oC. Molecular orbital levels and band gaps are depending on donor-acceptor composition in the π-conjugated polymer. Interestingly, TCNE and TCNQ units were found to diversify the digital memory modes and to widen the active polymer layer thickness window. Fl-TPA polymer exhibits stable unipolar permanent memory behavior with high reliability. F1-TPA-TCNE and Fl-TPA-TCNQ devices exhibit exhibits stable unipolar permanent memory behavior as well as dynamic random access memory (DRAM) behavior. This study has demonstrated that π-conjugated cyano moieties is approach for the design and synthesis of high-performance digital memory polymers. |
