We successfully fabricated three dimensional TiO2@Ag nanostructure with high surface area, which was applied in photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. The three dimensional TiO2 nanostructure is derived from a amphiphilic graft copolymer templates, which provides not only improved interaction sites for the formation of Ag nanoparticles but also enhanced electron transport. The structure, optical properties, and successful polymerization were characterized by SEM, TGA, DSC, 1H-NMR, UV-vis, and FT-IR spectroscopy. The PEC water splitting cell based on the three-dimensional TiO2@Ag nanostructures showed a higher efficiency than those of the pristine TiO2 nanostructure under visible light region. The enhanced PEC water splitting ability can be mainly attributed to the three-dimensional TiO2 nanostructure as the electron transport layer and Ag nanoparticles as a photosensitizer for increased light absorption. |
