Although Nafion® for proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) is widely used because of its properties, there are still some problems, such as CO tolerance, water management, high system price, due to its low operation temperature, below 100℃. In order to solve these, HT-PEMFC that can be operated at temperature above 150℃ have been studied. In this work, to enhance the performance of the polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) for high temperature operating proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), inorganic material were introduced in Poly 2,2’-m-(phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole (PBI). The proton conductivity result shows that the hybrid membrane has enhanced value (0.25S/cm) compared to that of pure PBI membrane (0.05S/cm), because the hybrid film holds much more phosphoric acid due to the inorganic material. Furthermore, the hybrid membrane has improved current density and power density compared to those of PBI. |
