In vivo tracking of Mesenchymal stem cells migration by MRI |

This study is focused to evaluate the efficiency of labeling mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) with novel iron oxide nano particles to enable in vitro cellular imaging and non-invasive in vivo tracking of stem cells through Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). We prepared iron oxide nanoparticles coated with biocompatible polymer, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The polyninylpyrrolidone-coated iron oxide nanoparticles were uptaken in the cytoplasms of Kupffer cells of rabbit liver. The intercellular migration of transplanted stem cells towards the ablated site in rabbit was clearly tracked through in vivo MRI and also by prussian blue staining of muscular tissues. The resulting superparamagnetic nanoparticles exhibited the feasibility for MRI contrast agent for liver and we performed in vitro and in vivo test. |
