제목 The Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Induced by Star Polystyrenes
초록 Nanoparticles of noble metals have been investigated extensively in recent years due to their novel material properties different from those bulk substances. These nanoparticles have been prepared through many synthetic methods including controlled precipitation, seeded growth, and confined synthesis in structured templates. Especially, template-directed synthesis represents a straightforward route to nanoparticles, which are generated in situ with the morphology complementary to that of the template. A number of templates including hard solid templates, self-organized media, and fabrication of inorganic nanoparticles in solid polymer have been used. Nevertheless, it has been hard to find a suitable template with a stable micelle, good solubility in organic solvent, and easy post-processing.
Recently, we have developed a synthetic method of star polystyrene with multi-branches. The star polystyrene was considered to be possible to use as a template of nanoparticles and tested for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Silver nanoparticles were prepared by the addition of AgX to star polystyrenes followed by the reduction with NaBH4. Silver nanoparticles were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. In this report, the synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles as well as their stability will be discussed.
