Nano-clay is widely used in polymer-nanocomposites due to the high aspect ratio, heat resistance and nano-scale dimension. In recent research, the thermal and mechanical properties of polyurethane foam were improved with introducing nano-clay. In this study, we describe the influence of different concentration of clay modifier on clay dispersion in polyurethane foam. Two grades of nano-clay in this study were modified with same structural modifier to facilitate particle dispersion within the matrix. The main difference between the two grades is only modifier concentration. Effects of modifier concentration of nano-clay/polyurethane foam were measured using their recovery time, air flow and cell morphology. |
