제목 Studies of High-Rate Behavior of Nickel-rich Cathode Active Materials for Fast Charging Rechargeable Lithium Batteries
초록 The needs of fast charging capability of high energy density Li-ion batteries are increasing to enable fast charge of battery-powered electric vehicles. However, not only lithium-plating event and sluggish diffusion kinetics of graphite anode but also limited diffusion kinetics of cathode hamper fast charging Li-ion batteries. Various approaches like surface coating of active materials, adopting new active materials, designing electrolytes and others are ongoing to improve high-rate performance of batteries. We developed a unique method to promote lithium diffusion kinetics of nickel-rich cathode active material through structural modification. In this presentation, we will report the effects of structural modification of nickel-rich NCM cathode active material on the cycling behavior under extremely fast charge condition.
