The Influence of the Solubility Parameters for Spherical Poly(styrene-co-DVB) Particles by the Precipitation Polymerization |

Stable poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) microspheres were prepared by the precipitation polymerization using acetonitrile as the primary medium. The characteristics of microspheres depend on various solvent system having different solubility parameters of various solvent. The effects of solubility parameter of various solvents on the particle size were investigated. Furthermore, the polarity and viscosity are concerned. As a result, the stable microspheres are achieved by adjusting solubility parameter of medium having similar polarity and viscosity of acetonitrile. |
