Continuous glucose monitoring is one of the most important medical unmet needs for the diagnosis of diabetes patients. Here, we developed a smart contact lens fabricated with near-infrared (NIR) light emitting diode (LED) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) photodetector for real-time non-invasive glucose monitoring. The NIR light appeared to be interfered by the blood glucose, which could be detected by the MoS2 photodetector. In accordance, the current of the photodetector gradually increased with increasing blood glucose concentration. From the results, we could confirm the feasibility of smart contact lens for non-invasive continuous monitoring of blood glucose concentrations in the eye for the diagnosis of diabetic patients. |
