제목 Alginate/Methylcellulose core-shell composite hydrogels for smart caffeine encapsulation
초록 Caffeine is one of the natural stimulants which awakens and improves alertness on certain dose. On the other hand, its can also be deadly if consumed by children and/or in higher dosage per day. Therefore, caffeine intake should be monitored accordingly. Here in, we prepared thermally reversible hydrogel capsules for controlled caffeine release. Composite hydrogel of methylcellulose core containing caffeine protected by thin layer alginate shell is designed as smart caffeine capsule. Swelling ratio, internal structure analysis, thermal behavior and other properties were studied. In addition, release efficiency, thermo-irreversibleness and release profiles were assessed. Appreciable release profiles and good reversibility was recorded from the as prepared smart caffeine capsules.
