제목 | Optimization of culture condition for Haematococcus pluvilalis mutants using central composite design (CCD) |
초록 | Recently, algal biotechnology has received increasing interests and is becoming one of the frontiers of the biotechnology. Especially a green alga H. pluvialis has received increasing interest as one of the best producers of astaxanthin (3,3'-dihydroxy-β,β-carotene-4,4'-dixone) due to its antioxidant activity, approximately ten times greater than other carotenoids. To enhance astaxanthin production by Haematococcus pluvialis, three types of mutant stains, obtained from UV irradiation and colchicine treatment, were selected among 50,000 colonies appeared after mutations. The selected mutant cells were named as U15_5, DS and M3 respectively, and they showed either 20-30% faster cell growth or 30-70% higher astaxanthin accumulation compared to those from wild type strains. |
