Supramolecular self-healing material is capable of responding to damage and restoring the material’s performance without negatively affecting the initial materials properties. The healing possibility depends on two factors, the first being the supramolecular recombine, the second being sufficient chain dynamics of the individual polymer chains. In this study, we prepare the supramolecular network consisted of ureidopyrimidinone (UPy) ends functionalized linear/nonlinear poly(ε-caprolactone) and investigate the effect of both key factors on the self-healing performance of the supramolecular network. The developed supramolecular network can be healed more than 10 times at 90 ℃ during 10 minutes. In particular, we find the multiple hydrogen bond and three dimensional supramolecular structure play an important role on the supramolecular self-healing. This opens the door to development of new type switchable healing materials and systems. |
