There has been a growing interest for the achiral bent-core molecules in its unique combinations of polarity and chirality. Especially when they are mixed with the rod-like matrix, it shows more interesting phenomena that helicity change, induced antiferroelectric order, and mesoscale stabilization for nanoseparation. By confining this binary mixtures in one-dimensional nanochennels (AAO, anodic aluminum oxide), it is possible not only to induce individual high-order alignment but also to enable controlling the specific mutual orientation upon varying its molar concentration. In this study, X-ray diffraction (GIXD) and various visualizing techniques (SEM, TEM and POM) were combined to reveal the grounds of structural transitions and the presence of short-range correlation. This provides the important insight into the interaction between two different molecules in confined geometry, and the clue to the crucial possibility for further applications of B4 phases in the matrix. |
