Fabrication of Surperhydrophobic surface by Nano-imprint pattern transfer on PK blend |

Superhydrophobic surfaces have drawn a lot of interest both in academia and in industry because of the self-cleaning property. Here we propose a convenience method that fabricating the superhydrophobic surface on polyketone (PK) and PK/mEOR blend. The superhydrophobic surface was fabricated on polymer by nano-imprint pattern transfer using Al template. It was characterized in terms of surface roughness of Al template and pattern transfer conditions. Al template with nano- and/or micro-structured was prepared by simple chemical etching. Beck’s dislocation etchant was used in this study which preferentially dissolves the dislocation sites in the grains. The rough surface on the Al plates was transfer to PK under particular heat and pressure condition. Afterward, we eliminated the mEOR with n-hexane to increase the surface area which could enhance surface roughness. This study focuses on the relationship between surface roughness and hydrophobicity, especially in PK and PK/mEOR blend. |
