Photochromism has attracted much attention recently from the viewpoint of optical applications because of interest in refractive index or absorbance changes through optical extraction. The aim of this study was to investigate the photochromism of spirooxazine dye using PMMA with higher transparent properties and to characterize the color change of PMMA/spirooxazine microspheres by UV light. To obtain this aim, PMMA was prepared with photochromic spirooxazine by suspension polymerization to obtain PMMA microspheres bearing spirooxazine dye. We investigated the effects of spirooxazine on polymerization behaviors and morphology of PMMA/spirooxazine microspheres, and PMMA/spriooxazine microspheres were verified the ability to undergo a color change by UV light. This research was financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science Technology(MEST) and Korea Industrial Technology Foundation(KOTEF) through the Human Resource Training Project for Regional Innovation. |
