Carbon materials, such as carbon nanotubes(CNTs), carbon nanofibers(CNFs), garphene etc, are very useful, economical and developable materials that have traditionally been used in various fields. CNTs ,which is one of the carbon materials, were synthesized on nickel nanoparticles through catalytic decomposition of methane using a nickel catalyst supported by alumina. Nickel-alumina catalysts were prepared using modified sol-gel method. The influences of the synthesis nickel metal ratio and catalyst amount on the quality and quantity of grown MWCNTs were studied. In particular, the MWCNT yield of the nickel-alumina catalysts was changed when the nickel weight was 50, 60, and 70 wt%, respectively. Approximate 51.0% of CH4 was converted in the presence of nickel-alumina catalyst. Consequently, the proper nickel amount of the nickel-alumina catalyst produced high quility MWCNT throughout the methane decomposition reaction. |
