제목 Linker-free assembly of N-doped carbon nanotubes with polyoxometalates for water oxidation
초록 The search for highly active water oxidation catalysts remains as a crucial issue to efficiently obtain clean and sustainable energy via water splitting. Polyoxometalates (POMs) are one of promising candidates for water oxidation in a neutral medium, but their poor electrical conductivity or requirement of a non-conductive adhesive layer for hybridizing with conductive materials. Unfortunately, the adhesive layer hinders the inherent excellent catalytic activity and electron transfer at the interface. Here we report a facile and linker-free hybridization of the cobalt based polyoxometalates (CoPOMs) with nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) via electrostatic interaction. Nitrogen sites at CNT surfaces directly interact with CoPOM molecular catalyst without any intermediate adhesive layer. The resulting hybrids exhibit an excellent water oxidation catalytic activity at neutral condition, with low overpotential of 370 mV and high turnover frequency (TOF) of 0.211 s-1.
