Melamine-formaldehyde(MF) resin having average size of 10㎛ was prepared with the control of surfactant, pH, reaction temperature, and reaction time. The surface of MF resin was reacted with acrylic acid in ethanol (EtOH) to have vinyl groups. Surface-treated MF resin was utilized in making the core materials. The modified MF core composite particles with poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) shell were synthesized by radical emulsion polymerization in EtOH/H2O (70/30 wt/wt) under N2 purge. The core-shell composite particles were soaked in HF aqueous solution for 48hours to remove MF core. Both modification of MF surface and removal of MF core were confirmed by FT-IR spectra. From the result of the polarized microscope and SEM, the size and morphology of core-shell composites and hydrogel microcapsules were confirmed. The particle size variation of PNIPAm-containing micro particles was monitored by using the laser scattering particle size analyzer. |
