Synthesis of polymer electrolyte membranes by pre-/post sulfonation for fuel cell application |
초록 |
Polymer electrolyte membranes through two types of sulfonation method were prepared. Post-sulfonation of poly(ether ether ketone) (sPEEK) (Victrex®) was carried out using concentrated sulfuric acid as a sulfonation agent and pre-sulfonated copolymers were synthesized using sulfonated monomer. Degree of sulfonation of the membranes prepared by the pre- and post-sulfonation methods was controlled by reaction time and percentage of sulfonated monomer, respectively. The prepared membranes were characterized in terms of the ion exchange capacity (IEC), proton conductivity, water uptake, AFM and their thermal properties. The aforementioned properties of the both membranes were compared at similar IEC. |
