Hydrothermal treatment of alumina for hydrodesulfurization catalyst |

We have investigated the effect of hydrothermal treatment over alumina supports for hydrodesulfurization (HDS). Physical properties of alumina supports were modified by changing treatment temperature and water concentration. Supported Ni-Mo-P catalysts were tested in a trickle-bed at 350oC and 8.0 MPa. All the prepared catalysts were characterized to define their structural properties and surface morphologies. The Ni-Mo-P supported on Al2O3 hydrothermally treated at 200oC exhibited 2 times lower sulfur remaining concentration after HDS than that on pure Al2O3. The increased pore volume likely enhances the dispersion of active sites and the accessibility of feed stocks for the deep HDS. |
