Preparation of nanosturucture electrode using AAO template and its application to Dye-sensitized Solar Cells |

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) have currently been attracting much interest as cost-effective alternatives to conventional solar cells. The electron-collecting layer in a DSSC is typically constructed using 15-20nm TiO2 nanoparticles that provide a large surface area for the adsorption of light harvesting molecules. However, TiO2 nanoparticles rely on trap-limited diffusion length for electron transport. We have developed a new photoelectrode without limited electrode length in which the nanoparticle is replaced by TiO2 nanorods/nanotubes. The structures of nanorod /nanotube electrode provide an efficient diffusion path. An AAO membrane has utilized as a template for the TiO2 nanorod/nanotube structure, which was intensively scrutinized in term of AAO pore dimension and distribution as well as the length of membrane. Our results indicate that remarkable photoconversion efficiencies may be obtained, with an increase of the nanorod /nanotube array length. |
