Organic pigments are widely used as colorants for coatings, inks, plastics, and color filters in electronic devices, mainly because of their advantageous performances such as good photosensitivity, brilliance, color strength, and high thermal stability. Pigment materials are totally insoluble in organic mediums due to the strong intermolecular aggregation. Thus pigments are required to be finely ground and dispersed in an organic medium to warrant their gloss appearance, lighting efficiency, and maximizing material utilization. For this purpose of interacting with pigment particles, the prepared benzyl methacrylate(BMA)/glycidyl methacrylate(GMA)/methacrylic acid (MAA) backbone was allowed to be crosslinked with tethered double bond. The structure of the resulting copolymers was characterized in detail by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopies, and gel permeation chromatography to determine polymer molecular weight. |
