In this study, we prepared Norfloxacin loaded chitosan - poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) microspheres by W/O emersion method. Briefly, 10% chitosan solution, PVP solution and norfloxacin solution were added in the mineral oil with span 80 as a surfactant and glutaric aldehyde as a cross link agent was added in reactants with different concentration of PVP solution and stirring speeds. The characterization of norfloxacin loaded chitosan-PVP microspheres were analyzed by SEM, particle size, TGA and XRD. In addition, the content and release of norfloxacin was confirmed by UV spectrophotometer. From these results suggest that the norfloxacin loaded chitosan-PVP microspheres can be apply to various biomaterial fields.
