제목 Non-disruptive in-situ Raman Analysis for Gas Evolution in Commercial EDLCs
초록 Electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) are one of the supercapacitors which generally store charge electrostaticly within electrochemical double layer at electrolyte/electrode interphase. Along the V increase, life time of EDLCs has been sharply degraded according to a power law. There were various researches about electrolyte decomposition with gas evolution, which has been measured using many analytical devices (e.g. GC-MS, DEMS, etc.). However, it was not clear whether the evolved gas and gas evolution rate had an impact on internal cell pressure. Furthermore, the commercial EDLC cells were more or less destroyed for cell investigation. In order to overcome these disadvantages of previous studies, we developed new measurement method of gas evolution from commercial EDLCs in real-time by using Raman Spectroscope which utilizes Raman in-situ gas evolution analysis set-up with non-disruption (RIGEAND). RIGEAND minimizes the dead volume. Raman spectroscopy with our cell enables less-destructive and high-speed measurement on the commercial EDLCs. Consequently, we obtained partial pressure of evolved H2, CO and CO2 by Raman spectra with RIGEAND and confirmed RIGEAND has no crucial effect on the commercial cell from electrochemical analysis.
