Research activity on graphene is being extended to its inorganic analogues, i.e. exfoliated 2D nanosheets of layered inorganic solids (layered metal oxides, layered double hydroxides, layered metal chalcogenides, etc). This type of 2D nanomaterial attracts intense research interest because of its usefulness as building blocks for exploring new functional nanohybrids applicable for versatile technologies. The 2D nanosheets of inorganic solids as well as graphene can be synthesized by soft-chemical exfoliation method and used as efficient powerful platform materials for multifunctional heterostructured nanohybrids. In this talk, several practical examples of the 2D inorganic nanosheets will be presented together with their nanohybrids having tailorable physicochemical properties and functionalities such as electrochemical activity, gas adsorption capability, photocatalytic activity, and nanobio functionality. |
