Organotellurium-Mediated Controlled/Living Radical Polymerization Initiated by Carbon-Tellurium Bond Photolysis |
초록 |
Controlled/living radical polymerization (LRP) has been revolutionizing the synthesis of structurally well-defined polymeric materials. LRP relies on the reversible generation of a reactive carbon-centered radical from an inactive dormant species, and thermal and chemical stimuli have been predominantly used in order to activate it. In contrast, LRP triggered by photo stimuli has attracted a great deal of attention because of the potential application to polymerization under low temperature, photo-induced fabrication of nano-architectures, and so forth. We report here the photoinduced organotellurium-mediated LRP (TERP) by direct photolysis of the C-Te bond of the dormant species. Highly efficient activation of the dormant species occurred upon irradiation with low intensity UV and visible light, including sunlight. Polymers having various polar functional groups with low to high molecular weights and low molecular weight distributions were synthesized. |
